The close collaboration between John Petrucci and Ernie Ball regularly results in reissues and limited editions of the Majesty series. This year, the model reinvents itself once again as the Majesty Premium Select.
The differences from the standard Majesty series are subtle.
Royal Details
The centrepiece of the Music Man Majesty Premium Select is its neck-through design crafted from Honduran mahogany. Alder wings complement the mahogany with their characteristic tone, while a thick maple top provides enhanced sustain and precise articulation. The combination of these woods delivers a tonal character that embodies John Petrucci’s signature sound. The ebony fretboard features 24 stainless steel frets.
A practical detail for the stage: glow-in-the-dark side dots ensure reliable orientation even in low-light conditions.
DiMarzio & Fishman Pickup System
The Music Man Majesty Premium Select is equipped with DiMarzio Rainmaker and Dreamcatcher humbuckers.
Its standout feature, however, is the combination with the custom Music Man JP Piezo Floating Tremolo, paired with a Fishman Powerbridge piezo pickup. The 8-string version uses a custom piezo-equipped hardtail bridge instead, for rock-solid tuning stability.
This allows you to blend magnetic and acoustic sounds or use them completely independently – thanks to stereo and mono outputs directly on the instrument. An integrated gain boost of over 20 dB propels you straight to the forefront for solo passages.
Models & Finish Options
The Music Man Majesty Premium Select is available as a 6-string, 7-string (both 25.5″ scale length) and 8-string multiscale (27″ on the bass side for a tighter low-string response) model. It also comes in five exclusive colours: Carnelian Red, Ka’anapali Dream, Mystic Dream, Purple Nebula II, and Strawberry Moon.
