Everybody loves an OTT! 8TT by Discreet Signals is a unique take on the hugely popular upward-downward compressor, designed to let you shape the dynamics of your tracks quickly and intuitively. With up to eight bands, 8TT allows for very precise dynamic shaping.

While 8TT sounds great without a doubt, my favorite part is the user interface. Everything is clickable and draggable. Need an extra band? Simply double-click one to split it in two. Want to adjust the crossover? Drag horizontally between two bands. Drag the handle of a band to adjust the threshold, and the body to change the ratio. It’s quick, fun, and intuitive. That said, you can still enter precise values by right-clicking the controls, which brings up a value box. Fantastic!

8TT also offers a sidechain input for ducking or expanding your signal relative to another track. It even supports up to 8x oversampling.

8TT is available for macOS and Windows in VST3 and AU formats.

CloudReverb is a free algorithmic reverb plugin based on the CloudSeed VST algorithm by Valdemar Erlingson. With plenty of controls and sound shaping options, it’s a very versatile reverb that works well on a wide variety of signals. In addition to multitap and late delay stages, CloudReverb offers separate sections for early and late diffusion, each with delay, feedback, and modulation controls.

For sound shaping, CloudReverb has a pair of low-cut and high-cut filters in the input stage, as well as a 2-band shelf EQ for the reverb tail. There’s also a mixer that lets you dial in the perfect balance of the dry signal, predelay, and early and late diffusion stages.

CloudReverb is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux in VST3, LV2, and AU formats, although the developer states that the Mac version hasn’t been tested.

More Information

Sotto Spindown by Sottovoce DSP emulates the popular spindown effect that occurs when a vinyl record winds down. The plugin’s standout feature is that it lets you design your own custom spindown curves using two anchor points, so you can adjust the effect to the tempo and feel of your track. From gentle fades of up to 10 seconds in length to dramatic halts, everything is possible. You can also save your spindown curves for future use in another project.

Sotto Spindown is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
