Adam Jones teases new Epiphone signature model 1979 Les Paul Custom Silverburst

It was only a matter of time, but now Tool’s Adam Jones has teased via his Instagram account what appears to be his new Epiphone 1979 Les Paul Custom Silverburst. Well, actually it’s just the case, but I’m sure you’ll agree that this could be epic.

The Instagram post shows an Epiphone-branded hard case along with the phrase Adam Jones 1979 – so I have to assume this will mean we shall soon be seeing a new Adam Jones signature model. The case is pictured on top of a late ’70s Gibson case for a Les Paul Custom, so it all adds up to this being a new affordable run of the famous Silverburst model he plays in Tool.

The original Gibson limited release was marred by 13 Adam Jones signature Les Paul Customs being stolen from a pallet on their way to a dealer, so Gibson made another 13 extra guitars to fulfil the orders of the people whose guitars had been stolen.

The Instagram post only says “more prototypes 🔥🤘🏽🏆 ” and links to both Gibson and Epiphone, so it is safe to say that this new signature model is somewhere in the pipeline for an imminent release, perhaps in 2021?

Limited Release?
If this Epiphone version does hit the stores this year I am certain it will be a huge hit with fans of Tool and Adam Jones fans, especially those that missed out on the ultra-limited release from Gibson, which sold out instantly. That release was available as both a standard and an aged version of Jones’ 1979 Silverburst Les Paul Custom and was a very desirable guitar indeed.
I doubt there will be an aged version with Epiphone, as there’s not much history of that type of release there. We could see Seymour Duncan pickups, though, and possibly the mirror on the headstock. But I wonder: will this also be a limited release? I think that probably it will.
I’m a huge fan of Epiphone guitars and I reckon the overall quality of these could be pretty outstanding, so I’m keen to see how this progresses and will keep you all up to date once more news breaks on this exciting potential new Adam Jones signature model.

I must be the only person in the world who genuinely doesn’t understand why people buy ‘signature’ guitars. Why would you want to play a copy of someone else’s instrument? (Hint: It won’t make you magically play or sound like them).
Buy a standard instrument, mod it to your taste and be the first you! 🙂

At a Gibson super limited run, think of these more like stocks. They’ll be put away and booked as an asset in the portfolio.
At an Epiphone level, I suppose I’d say it’s a cure for drudgery in the market. I kinda dig the mother of avocado finish and I need a custom at all times in the arsenal and I don’t even listen to Tool.

I own 2 signature models. I didn’t buy them because of Schenker or Rick Nielsen, but instead buying them because the guitars were hybrids (Cross between a 58 and 76 Flying V) or the Futura model. It took Rick Nielsen to stimulate the industry to build the Explorer prototype again.
I buy signature guitars as an investment and to be part of my collections. I bought several signature guitars and many of them had already 3x to 5x my cost.
Yeah, don’t buy a signature model, just buy a regular Les Paul…wait, what?

Just wanted to say my opinion is Adam Jones is one of the best guitar players in the world that I heard and seen and would love to get backstage pass to just talk to all the band and hang out so many questions but the Holy Grail of guitars LoL but really the best Dimebag Darrell was my favorite and STILL is in my heart mind he’s always around at times I need and when cool shit pops up LMFAO love guitar could I just get some of the band members autographs if not that’s cool I have seen 1 show 1 time in Greenville south Carolina or or Greensboro something like that back in on 02-01 I am dying to see them again Best show ever so far I no I probably will not ever afford to buy one of these guitars but keep on keeping on
Guess A.J. has forgotten what its like to be a working guy trying to save the money up to afford a Gibson Les Paul. $10,000??? I dont think so….
